Give your tax procedures a health screening

We are advising local companies, to check their tax procedures are correct relating to health screenings for employees following an amendment to the Income Tax (Exemption of Minor Benefits) Regulations 2002 which has just come into force.

In order to now be eligible for tax exemptions, health screening must be offered to all employees once a year. Previously the offer of screening did not have to apply to all employees.

Robin John comments: “This is an important change to the legislation which could easily go overlooked by companies. It appears however at this early stage that while the screenings have to be offered to all employees, they do not have to necessarily be taken up by everyone.

“There are some positive and some negative repercussions to this change. Firstly the number of employees who are offered screenings could of course increase which is good news. However there is also the possibility that companies may not offer screenings at all.”
